SpaGuard products provide numerous benefits. When used according to label instructions,

SpaGuard products will:

  • Make the water feel clean and comfortable.
  • Kill bacteria, which can multiply rapidly in a spa.
  • Protect spa surfaces from stains caused by metals, which are often dissolved in water.
  • Protect spa equipment from scale caused by calcium deposits. Scale can accumulate on spa surfaces and inside filters and heaters, greatly reducing their effectiveness.

Sanitizers to kill bacteria and keep the water protected and soothing.

Oxidizers to remove undesirable compounds and keep the water clean and inviting.

Balancers to make the water feel wonderful, and protect the spa surfaces and equipment.

Accessories to keep the spa surfaces clean and the water beautiful.

There are 2 primary components that affect spa water quality.
1: Sanitizer, either bromine or chlorine

When both are within their recommended ranges:
Your water is comfortable, protected and clear.
Your sanitizers and "shock products" work efficiently.
Your spa surfaces and equipment are protected.

Maintain bromine or chlorine within their recommended levels:
Bromine = 2 - 6 ppm
Chlorine =1 - 3 ppm
(If your spa is equipped with an ozone generator, you may choose to maintain the chlorine or bromine at the lower end of their ranges.)

Maintain the pH between 7.4 - 7.6. In this range bathers are comfortable, the spa surface and equipment are protected, and the sanitizers perform efficiently.
Test sanitizer and pH level several times a week with the 4-way test strips. These strips provide quick, easy and accurate readings. The test process is easy. Follow the label instructions. Simply dip and read.
Take a water sample to your SpaGuard dealer regularly (every 4-6 weeks) for a complete water analysis. In addition to testing the pH and sanitizer, this analysis will measure the water's total alkalinity, calcium hardness, iron, copper, manganese and total dissolved solids. Based on this analysis, your dealer can recommend the SpaGuard products you need in order to keep the spa looking and feeling great!

Bacteria thrive in hot water. To keep spa water protected all of the time, a residual sanitizer is needed even if the spa is equipped with an ozone system.

Brominating Concentrate   (one step bromine system)
The strongest bacteria fighter in powerful granules that are extremely easy to use. Applied in the correct amount while the pump is running. No need to pre-treat with bromide salts. No need to add oxidizers to activate it. And since Brominating Concentrate is pH neutral, there is no need to adjust pH or total alkalinity either. This "one-step" product is used as a regular sanitizer and as an oxidizer to rid the spa of odors and undesirable compounds. A double dose of Brominating Concentrate can also serve as a shock.

Brominating Tablets
The power of organic bromine (BCDMH) compressed into 1-inch tablets that dissolve slowly and protect continuously. Particularly good for commercial spas and other spas with big bather loads. These tablets are acidic and may lower pH, so pH and total alkalinity should be tested frequently and adjusted as necessary. Use Brominating Tablets in a brominator or in a SpaGuard Floating Dispenser. IMPORTANT: Do not place Brominating Tablets in the skimmer or drop directly onto the spa's surface.

Floating Dispenser
An adjustable floating feeder that allows the Brominating Tablets to dissolve at the rate needed for most residential spas.

Chlorinating Concentrate
The sanitizing power of chlorine in concentrated granules that dissolve quickly and completely. With a near neutral pH, it's also easy to maintain balanced water. Chlorinating Concentrate should be added directly to spa water while the pump is running. Use regular doses as a sanitizer and shock doses as an oxidizer. A double dose can also serve as shock.

When people use spas, they leave undesirable compounds like body oil, perspiration and cosmetics that can irritate skin, burn eyes and create odors. Oxidizing, also known as shocking the water, removes these undesirable compounds and restores water clarity and comfort. An oxidizer should be used weekly in most residential spas, more frequently in heavily-used or commercial spas.

SpaGuard Lite
This non-chlorine shock is the ideal oxidizer for spas. It makes undesirable compounds (body oils, lotions, sweat, etc.) disappear. Spa Shock is simple to use - just apply directly into your spa water while the pump is circulating. Fast acting, this product allows you to return to the spa 15 minutes after application. This new formula is pH buffered so it's easier to keep the water balanced. Try Lite in convenient 35g packs and see how great it works.

Balanced water is essential to soaker comfort, water clarity, sanitizer efficiency, and the longevity of spa surfaces and equipment. pH is the most critical factor. It is also the most sensitive, changing rapidly when bathers, products or other elements enter the water. When total alkalinity is in balance, it buffers the pH. When metals and minerals like iron, copper, manganese and calcium are out of balance, they can also damage surfaces and equipment. The SpaGuard family includes products to manage all these factors.

Spa Guard Balance Pak 100 (Total Alkalinity Increaser)
Stabilizes pH by balancing total alkalinity. Proper TA helps buffer pH to minimize the risks of corrosion, scale and soaker discomfort.

Spa Guard Balance Pak 200
Raises the pH (if it is below 7.4) and helps prevent corrosion.

Spa Guard Balance Pak 300 (Calcium Hardness Increaser)
Raises calcium levels to prevent the corrosion that "soft" water can cause.

Spa Guard LoN Slo
Lowers the pH (if it is above 7.6) and helps prevent the formation of calcium scale.

Spa Guard Stain and Scale Control
Prevents stain and scale build-up caused by excessive metals and minerals. Used every time the spa is drained and refilled. Recommend a weekly maintenance dose in areas with hard water or copper and iron content.

Spa Guard Spa Sentry (Washington Pools recommended)
The easiest way to control pH. Introduces an additional buffering compound, providing a dual buffering system. Expect up to three full months of clear, pH-stable water.
Add SpaGuard Spa Sentry to hold the pH in it's optimum range. pH is THE most important aspect of spa water quality. However, maintaining the proper pH can be a challenge in a spa. The heated, aerated water, combined with heavy bather loads can cause the pH to change quickly, unless a means for buffering these changes is present. That's where SpaGuard Spa Sentry comes in. Spa Sentry is formulated to "watch over" the pH and protect the water from pH changes. So all you have to worry about is enjoying your spa.
NOTE: Spa Sentry should never be used in spas with plaster finishes or grouting that contains calcium.

The SpaGuard line of cleaners and clarifiers improves the water's appearance, extends filter performance, and protects spa surfaces.

Optimizer Plus (water enhancer)
The newest addition to the extensive SpaGuard line of accessories. Simply the greatest product to come along in years, available only from Bio Guard. Optimizer Plus makes hard water feel soft.
Water feels so soft and silky on the skin. It enhances sanitizers and breaks down CO 2 . It's also compatible with chlorine and bromine sanitized spas. Swimming pools can also enhanced with Optimizer Plus.

Eliminates oils before they collect at the waterline or clog the filter. Refresh "digests" and converts them into carbon dioxide and other easy to remove compounds so the waterline and the filter can go longer between cleanings.

SpaGuard Filter Brite
A good thing got better. BioGuard Cleaner and Degreaser was always terrific at chemically breaking down the oils and dirt that stay imbedded in your filer's fabric. Now Filter Brite comes in convenient 100g bags to make application practically effortless.

Spa Anti Foam
Quickly eliminates any surface foam caused by excess bather undesirable compounds and detergents.

A highly concentrated, ionically charged clarifier to keep your spa water crystal clean. Polysheen does not effect the pH and clears cloudy water fast.
